Johannesburg, South Africa – The Eswatini Competition Commission and South Africa’s Competition Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in competition law enforcement, advocacy and policy.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, in Johannesburg, South Africa, bringing the two competition authorities into a formal framework for closer collaboration on matters affecting both countries.
Under the agreement, the Eswatini Competition Commission and the Competition Commission South Africa will cooperate in areas including the exchange of information and expertise, sharing enforcement experiences, capacity building and cross border competition matters. 
Eswatini Competition Commission Chief Executive Officer Siboniselizulu Simelane Maseko said the agreement was particularly important because of the strong economic and trade links between Eswatini and South Africa.
“This is particularly significant given the close economic and trade relations between Eswatini and South Africa and the increasingly cross-border nature of business activities and markets.”
Simelane said the commission considers the agreement an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation and improving the effectiveness of competition enforcement and advocacy.
“Through closer collaboration with the CCSA, the two institutions will be better positioned to address emerging competition challenges, promote competitive and inclusive markets, and support fair outcomes for businesses and consumers in both countries,” she said.
