BEIJING – The Indian Embassy in Beijing has dismissed as false a claim made by China’s state-run Global Times that Pakistani forces shot down Indian fighter jets.

The statement was issued on Wednesday, 7 May, after Global Times published a post on X, alleging that the Pakistan Air Force downed Indian jets in retaliation for missile strikes under India’s ongoing military operation, codenamed #OperationSindoor.

India responded directly to the post, warning the Chinese outlet against circulating what it called “disinformation” and urging it to verify facts before making such claims.

“Dear @globaltimesnews, we would recommend you verify your facts and cross-examine your sources before pushing out this kind of disinformation,” the embassy posted on X.

The embassy further criticised the spread of what it described as baseless narratives being promoted by pro-Pakistan accounts, accusing them of attempting to mislead the public during a sensitive military campaign. It called on media outlets to act responsibly and avoid publishing unverified information.
