Police arrest suspects in murder and theft cases

MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has made a series of arrests linked to serious crimes committed across the country between 8 and 14 May 2025, including murder, attempted murder, housebreaking, and theft.

In Tshaneni, a 31-year-old man from Sihhoye was arrested after allegedly breaking into Mercy City Ministries on 16 April and stealing music equipment valued at E60,000. Entry was reportedly gained through a window, and some of the stolen instruments have since been recovered.

In Manzini, police detained a 31-year-old woman from KaKhoza for attempted murder after she allegedly force-fed a seven-year-old boy a poisonous substance on 4 May.

In a separate incident also in Manzini, a 48-year-old man was arrested at Gum Tree after a concrete mixer worth E85,000 was stolen from the area.

At Fairview in Mbabane, a 35-year-old man from Mbangweni (Nhlangano) was arrested in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old woman from Hlathikhulu, who was found on 10 May with a stab wound to the neck and lying in a pool of blood.

In Hlathikhulu, police arrested a 28-year-old man from Moihoek for attempted murder after he allegedly attacked a 54-year-old man from Magubheleni with an axe on 8 May. The victim suffered multiple injuries.

At Bhunya, a 50-year-old man from Mhlangeni was charged with theft following the disappearance of E23,000.

Meanwhile, at the Mhlumeni Border Post in Siteki, a 34-year-old Mozambican national was arrested for failing to declare E925,800 while entering the country. He has since appeared in court.
