MBABANE – More than 4,000 pairs of reading glasses have been donated to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to support elderly and visually impaired Emaswati across the country.
The donation, made on Friday, 30 May 2025, was delivered by Community Connections Charity Organisation. The presentation took place at the DPM’s Office, where board member Cindy Shabangu handed over 20 boxes of reading glasses to Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla.
Shabangu said the organisation was honoured to make the donation and acknowledged the DPM’s efforts in social welfare and care for vulnerable citizens. The reading glasses are intended to improve the quality of life for elderly people, many of whom struggle with poor eyesight and cannot afford corrective lenses. 
DPM Dladla received the donation with gratitude and welcomed the support, especially as it benefits older citizens who have difficulty reading, including reading the Bible. She said the glasses will restore a level of independence to many who rely on others to read for them.
Community Connections Charity Organisation was founded in 2007 by the late Mfanawenkhosi Mndzebele of Eswatini and Raymond Brosseuk of Canada.
