MBABANE – Hundreds of girls in selected schools across Hhohho, Manzini and Lubombo received sanitary pads on Tuesday as SOS Children’s Villages Eswatini launched a new round of menstrual health support.
The organisation started the distribution today as part of efforts to keep girls in school during their periods and reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation. The sanitary pads were handed out alongside educational sessions, which also involved boys in open conversations about menstrual health.
Learners expressed gratitude, with many girls saying they would use the items carefully to make them last. Some boys who attended the sessions said the experience gave them a better understanding of what girls go through and how they can offer support at school and at home. 
PSI South Africa partnered with SOS Children’s Villages Eswatini for the drive and has pledged to push for more supplies to be delivered to reach more girls in need.
