“Taxpayers are driving national progress” – Rijkenberg at ERS event

EZULWINI – Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg has commended the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) and the country’s taxpayers after government surpassed its annual revenue target for the second consecutive year.

Rijkenberg made the announcement on Friday night, 18 July 2025, during the ERS Client Appreciation Day event held at Happy Valley Hotel. He revealed that Eswatini collected E14.61 billion for the financial year ending 31 March 2025, an increase of E1.59 billion or 12.2 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the minister, the country’s tax-to-GDP ratio also grew from 15.9 percent to 16.7 percent, reflecting stronger fiscal performance. He attributed the growth to more effective tax administration by ERS alongside improved taxpayer compliance.

“Taxpayers are driving national progress,” Rijkenberg said, noting that efficient tax collection combined with responsible citizens was helping to advance Eswatini’s development.

He also credited ERS’s ongoing digital transformation and taxpayer education campaigns for making it easier for citizens to meet their tax obligations. Rijkenberg assured that government would continue supporting these efforts through legislation and policy changes aimed at sustaining the positive trend.

He encouraged taxpayers to celebrate the milestone but reminded them to remain committed to the country’s economic growth.
