PM Dlamini appointed president of global political council

Mbabane – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has been appointed as the new President of the Global Council on Political Renewal (GCPR), taking the role for the 2025-2028 term.

The announcement comes after Dlamini presented a report on Eswatini’s Tinkhundla system of governance during the 3rd Annual GCPR Meeting held in Brussels, Belgium, in February this year. During the same trip, he also held meetings with members of the European Parliament and senior officials from the EU Council.

The GCPR is an international organisation focused on strengthening cooperation among politicians worldwide while pushing for peace, justice, and ethical governance. The council also champions human rights, social and environmental justice, and human development through education and research.

Dlamini takes over from Bridget Masango, a South African Member of Parliament, who served as the GCPR president before the latest appointment.

The Prime Minister joins a leadership team that includes the former Jordanian Prime Minister and ex-Senator Faisal Al-Fayez, who chairs the GCPR Executive Council. The executive team also features Prof. Dr. Furio Honsell, a former mayor of Udine, Italy, and previous member of the Italian Regional Parliament, who serves as Secretary-General.
