Immigration officers trained on customer care

Big Bend – Immigration officers stationed at Eswatini’s main border posts have undergone specialised training aimed at improving customer care for travelers. The programme was organised by the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) in partnership with government and IRDM College Eswatini.

The workshop took place at KaMsholo Bushveld Safaris in Big Bend and was facilitated by Praise Tavawrisa and Mbalenhle Matsebula. Officers from Mhlumeni, Lavumisa and Lomahasha border posts were the main participants.

According to organisers, the purpose of the training was to strengthen professionalism, efficiency and hospitality among frontline staff to ensure that visitors receive a positive first and last impression of Eswatini. This forms part of the country’s broader strategy to raise its competitiveness in the regional tourism market.

The sessions also focused on helping officers identify the unique attractions in their areas, understand the profile of visitors and anticipate their expectations. Since immigration officers are often the first point of contact for travelers, organisers said their role as ambassadors of the country is critical in shaping how visitors experience Eswatini.
