New York – The Kingdom of Lesotho has taken on the role of Vice President at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Lesotho delegation, led by Prime Minister Sam Matekane, includes ministers from Health, Finance and Development Planning, Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Energy, and Gender, Youth and Social Development.
At the opening of the session on 23 September, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations presided over the proceedings, representing Lesotho in guiding discussions among UN member states. The role provides the country with a platform to advocate for national interests, regional priorities in Southern Africa, and concerns of developing countries globally.
