MASERU, Lesotho: The Maletsunyane Braai Festival has partnered with ReNOKA to promote wetland protection, environmental care and sustainable land management in Lesotho.
The partnership was announced ahead of the ninth edition of the festival, which will take place from 27 to 29 November 2026 at Maletsunyane Falls in Semonkong.
Organised by OTB Exclusive Events, the festival will combine music, food, camping and adventure with activities focused on protecting the highland environment.

ReNOKA is Lesotho’s national programme for integrated catchment management. It works to restore degraded land and water resources across Lesotho and the wider Orange Senqu River Basin.
The festival venue is located within one of Lesotho’s important highland catchments, which supplies water to communities in the country and downstream areas of South Africa.
Through the partnership, festival organisers will use the event to raise awareness about the importance of wetlands and the need to protect the water sources that support communities and ecosystems.
Festivalgoers are expected to take part in environmental activities, interactive discussions and awareness initiatives during the three day event.
Organisers will also improve waste management at the festival grounds by providing designated recycling points and arranging a clean up of the site and surrounding trails after the event.

Attendees will be encouraged to follow a leave no trace approach when travelling to and from Maletsunyane Falls.
The partnership will also focus on balisana, or herders, who have traditionally helped care for Lesotho’s highland grazing areas and wetlands.
The festival will provide an opportunity to discuss sustainable grazing practices and support ReNOKA’s community conservation work in and around Semonkong.
The organisers said the partnership was intended to ensure that the festival’s growth was matched by responsibility towards the mountains, water resources and communities that support it.
The Maletsunyane Braai Festival has grown into one of Lesotho’s leading tourism and lifestyle events since its launch in 2016.
It is held annually against the backdrop of Maletsunyane Falls, one of Africa’s highest single drop waterfalls, and features live music, braai culture, adventure tourism and Basotho hospitality.
The event is organised by OTB Exclusive Events in partnership with the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation.
ReNOKA is supported by the European Union and the German Government. Its work brings together government, communities and development partners under the message, “We are a river,” to protect Lesotho’s catchments, wetlands and rangelands for future generations.
Tickets, camping arrangements and accommodation packages for the 2026 festival are now available through accredited tour operators.
