South African music duo Liquideep has returned with a new single titled “For The Night”, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter for the award winning act.
The song was released on July 31, 2026, after the duo spent more than a decade away from the music spotlight. It is their first single under a partnership involving Africori and Warner Music Africa.
Made up of Thabo “Ryzor” Shokgolo and Jonathan “Ziyon” Hamilton, Liquideep built its reputation through soulful house music and songs such as “Fairytale”, “Alone”, “Still”, “BBM” and “Rise Again”.
“For The Night” retains the duo’s emotional sound while introducing a more modern and atmospheric production style.
The pair said the comeback was not driven by a desire to repeat its earlier success, but by a renewed need to create and share new music.
“We didn’t want to come back simply because people remembered the music. We came back because we still have something to say,” says Liquideep. “For The Night” is part of that conversation. It represents where we are now, as artists, as people and as creatives. We’ve lived, grown, changed and experienced life in completely different ways, and all of that naturally finds its way into the music.”
The duo’s return comes as interest in its earlier catalogue continues to grow among both longtime listeners and younger audiences.
Their connection with a new generation was strengthened after Grammy award winning South African singer Tyla reimagined “Fairytale”, introducing the composition to listeners around the world.
Liquideep said its goal had always been to make music that could survive changing trends and reach different generations.
“We’ve always wanted our music to feel timeless rather than tied to a particular moment,” the duo adds. “That hasn’t changed. What has changed is us. We’ve experienced more, we’ve learned more and we have a different perspective on life. You can hear that in the new music.”
The group said “For The Night” should not be viewed only as a return to the industry, but as an introduction to its current artistic direction.
The single is the first release from an upcoming EP scheduled for September 2026.
“The story never really ended,” says Liquideep. “We just needed time to live the next chapters before we could make the next music.”
“For The Night” is now available on streaming platforms.
