The Albinism Society of Eswatini made a strong mark at the 2025 Disability Arts Festival when its founder, Philmon Gama, was named the second-best artist of the event.
Gama performed the song Mfati Wami alongside veteran musician Mshikishi Mdnzebele before a packed audience at The Luke Commission Auditorium. He was one of more than 50 artists with disabilities who showcased their talents in music, dance, poetry, drama, painting, fashion and storytelling.
Sabelo Matse took the overall first prize, while Ntsikelelo secured third place. Gama’s recognition placed persons with albinism at the centre of the celebration, further demonstrating the diversity of talent within the disability community. 
Prizes were also awarded to the top three artists. Matse received a flight ticket sponsored by Eswatini Airways to a destination of his choice, either Zimbabwe or Durban, and an additional E1000 presented by Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla. He is also set to share the stage at this year’s Gospel Awards.
Gama won a Happy Valley Hotel package that includes a two-night stay, buffet dinner and Sunday lunch. Ntsikelelo walked away with a corporate hamper and E1000 from UNESCO.
