Andile Tsabedze shines as young electrician in Lubombo

Golweni, Lubombo – Andile Nomonde Tsabedze, a young electrician from Golweni, is breaking new ground in Eswatini’s male-dominated electrical industry. The eldest in her family and growing up with no brothers, Andile developed a natural curiosity for fixing household appliances and electrical problems.

“I remember fixing the kettle and changing a few light bulbs here and there,” she recalls. “That’s when I thought, I might as well learn more and take this up as a profession.”

Her passion for hands-on work grew, but lack of proper tools limited her ability to turn her skills into a sustainable career. That changed when the Eswatini National Youth Council, a government-mandated body coordinating youth programmes, provided her with a full electrician’s toolkit, including a multimeter and voltage tester.

“After receiving the tools, I was finally able to work properly and earn an income,” Andile says. “Now I can take care of my family, save money, and sustain myself. Having the right tools really changed everything for me.”

Today, Andile continues to excel in her field, showing that determination, skill, and opportunity can overcome barriers.
