TAVI promotes healthy eating in Malkerns

Malkerns – The Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative (TAVI), in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, hosted an event for elderly community members at the Marlkerns Research Station in the Hhohho Region. The initiative, focused on promoting the benefits of traditional African vegetables, invited senior citizens to sample healthy, nutritious meals made from locally grown produce.

During the event, participants were also given a presentation on the health benefits of incorporating these vegetables into their daily diets.

Hon. Thulisile Dladla, the Deputy Prime Minister of Eswatini, addressed the gathering, encouraging the elderly to adopt healthier eating habits as a way to prevent illness and improve their quality of life. Dladla emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced diet for longevity.

Many of the elderly attendees expressed familiarity with the vegetables and credited their good health to eating them regularly. Several committed to continuing to grow these vegetables in their backyard gardens, ensuring that they remain a staple in their diets.
