EswatiniBank advances E21 billion in 15 years

Mbabane – EswatiniBank has disbursed E21 billion in loans over the past 15 years, supporting national projects, communities, and business growth, Managing Director Nozizwe Mulela announced at the bank’s Business Gala Dinner on Tuesday at the Royal Swazi Sun Convention Centre.

Mulela told attendees that despite challenges over recent years, including delayed system upgrades affecting efficiency and competitiveness, the bank remains financially robust and committed to its development mandate.

She explained that modernising IT infrastructure, launching a new full banking system next year, and expanding digital offerings such as the ShareSha digital wallet and Agency Banking programme are part of the bank’s efforts to improve customer service and accessibility. Strengthening governance, risk management, and customer-centric business models were also highlighted as priorities.

Mulela urged state-owned enterprises, corporates, and other stakeholders to partner with EswatiniBank, describing them as critical to national development. “The financial decisions you make influence investment flows, job creation, infrastructure outcomes, and economic stability,” she said.

The Gala Dinner served as a platform for collaboration, dialogue, and co-creating solutions to advance Eswatini’s socio-economic development, with Mulela noting that collective responsibility and shared vision are key to the country’s progress.

She concluded by framing the bank as an enabler for institutions, businesses, and the wider economy, encouraging stronger partnerships to drive national growth.
