Namibia sees record 45% rise in tourist arrivals in 2024

Windhoek – Namibia’s tourism sector has experienced a significant boom in 2024, with over 1.2 million visitors recorded, marking a 45% increase from the previous year. This surge is detailed in the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism’s Annual Tourism Statistical Report, launched by Minister Indileni Daniel today.

The report highlights key trends in Namibia’s tourism, showing South Africa as the leading African source of visitors. Germany continues to be the largest overseas market. The majority of tourists, 37%, travelled for leisure, while 15.8% came for business purposes.

Tourism remains a major pillar of the Namibian economy, contributing about 17% to the country’s GDP and providing substantial employment opportunities.
