Manzini – The Road Safety Council of Eswatini, working under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, joined forces with the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, Manzini Municipality, RAAG, REPS and the Fire Department to run a road safety awareness campaign in Manzini Town Centre.
The outreach took place in the heart of Manzini, one of the country’s busiest commercial hubs, where heavy traffic and large pedestrian volumes intersect daily. Officials and partners engaged directly with members of the public, focusing on safe road use and responsible behaviour by pedestrians.
The campaign focused on how and when to cross the road safely, drawing attention to the correct use of pedestrian crossings, road markings and traffic lights. Teams were deployed around busy intersections and crossing points to guide pedestrians and share safety messages. 
Organisers said the initiative was prompted by a recent increase in pedestrian deaths and serious injuries on the country’s roads. Town centres such as Manzini have been identified as high risk areas due to congestion, frequent jaywalking and limited compliance with traffic signals.
The partners involved said road safety requires collective responsibility from all road users. They noted that consistent safe practices by pedestrians can play a major role in reducing accidents, injuries and loss of life, particularly in densely populated urban areas where risks are highest.
