Mbabane – The Kingdom of Eswatini hosted a Capacity-Building Workshop on the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) on 15 December 2025. Director of International Trade Lungile Dlamini welcomed delegates from across Africa to discuss strategies for advancing air transport across the continent.
Dlamini said the workshop aimed to equip countries with the skills and knowledge needed to meet SAATM standards. She noted that the initiative could make flights more affordable, boost tourism and trade, create jobs, and connect millions of Africans more efficiently.
Eswatini has made notable progress in preparing for SAATM, including joining the programme, establishing a National Implementation Committee, aligning aviation laws with continental standards, upgrading King Mswati III International Airport, and actively participating in regional aviation initiatives.
During the workshop, delegates reviewed progress, identified challenges, strengthened national committees, and developed strategies to accelerate SAATM implementation. Dlamini urged all Member States to cooperate and share best practices to unlock the full benefits of a liberalised air transport market.
