Mangwaneni – The Road Safety Council, in collaboration with the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA Fund) and the Royal Eswatini Police Service, recently conducted a road safety campaign in the Mangwaneni community and Golf Course Waste Management area. The initiative, responding to the rise in pedestrian accidents along the newly constructed Central Distributor Public Road, focused on educating residents about the dangers of vandalising road infrastructure.
The campaign stressed the importance of using the pedestrian footbridge for safe crossings and protecting the clear-view fencing, which is crucial in preventing unsafe crossings. Vandalism of the fencing, particularly by some community members attempting to create illegal shortcuts, was condemned. These actions expose pedestrians, including children, to severe risks as they cross the busy road at unsafe points.
Residents were urged to take collective responsibility for protecting public infrastructure to reduce accidents and improve safety for everyone on the road.
