Nsingizini Hotspurs tightened their grip at the top of the league standings after a convincing 4 nil victory over Manzini Wanderers at a packed Mavuso Sports Centre in Shiselweni.
The defending champions delivered the result on Saturday, overpowering a Wanderers side fighting to escape the relegation zone. From the opening whistle, Hotspurs dictated play with sharp passing and confident movement, keeping their opponents under sustained pressure.
The breakthrough came in the 19th minute when captain Neliswa Tiger Dlamini won possession on the right flank and released a precise through ball into the path of Thubelihle Mavuso. The forward struck first time, sending the ball into the far right corner to give Hotspurs the lead.
Five minutes later, the champions doubled their advantage. Ayanda Gadlela completed a flowing team move with a composed low finish in the 24th minute, leaving the Wanderers goalkeeper rooted as the score moved to 2 nil.
Hotspurs continued to control the match through the middle of the park, with Tiger Dlamini and Sizwe Khumalo setting the tempo and allowing Adele to push forward and link attacks with ease.
Wanderers’ best chance of the first half arrived in the 42nd minute when Malwande Kusa Gwebu broke down the left and attempted a lob after spotting the goalkeeper off his line, but the effort drifted wide.
The Shiselweni side resumed the second half with the same intensity. Just a minute after the restart, a quick exchange between Mvuselelo Mthethwa and Mavuso ended with Mavuso firing a powerful left footed strike past goalkeeper Fisokuhle Shongwe to make it 3 nil and complete his brace.
Wanderers struggled to respond and nearly conceded again in the 50th minute when hesitation at the back allowed Kingsley Kwaki to recover and clear a dangerous situation.
Further setbacks followed for Wanderers in the 58th minute when Shongwe was forced off through injury and replaced by Lihle Mhlungu. Both teams made substitutions in the 69th minute, with Hotspurs introducing Mlungisi Hlatshwako and Jordyn Vermaak, while Wanderers brought on Manuel Silima in search of momentum.
With time winding down, Hotspurs opted to manage the game through controlled possession. Their dominance was rewarded again in the 84th minute when Tiger Dlamini stepped up to a free kick just outside the penalty area and struck a powerful effort into the net to seal the 4 nil win.
Even in the closing stages, Hotspurs continued to threaten, with defender Kingsley Kwaki forcing a save after venturing forward into the box.
The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive victory for Nsingizini Hotspurs, who remain firmly in control at the summit as their title defence gathers momentum.
