A 24 year old man from Dzakasini has been arrested by Hlatikhulu police in connection with an attempted murder case following a stabbing incident that left a woman fighting for her life.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service said the suspect was taken into custody on Monday afternoon in the Dzakasini area. The arrest follows an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday 28 December 2025 at about 0015 hours.
Police said the suspect allegedly stabbed his 39 year old lover once in the stomach after a brief argument. The woman was rushed to hospital where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. 
Information gathered by investigators indicates that the two were in a romantic relationship and had previously argued after the man suspected infidelity. That earlier disagreement was resolved, but the issue resurfaced after a drinking session on the night of the incident.
What began as a verbal exchange escalated into a serious confrontation that ended with the stabbing. After the incident, the suspect reportedly fled the scene under the cover of darkness.
Police said he was arrested the following afternoon with the assistance of the community policing forum. The suspect is expected to appear before court on a charge of attempted murder as investigations continue.
