EU backs youth coordination framework

Manzini – The European Union in Eswatini, working with the Eswatini National Youth Council, recently hosted a Youth Sector Development Coordination Framework Validation Workshop at The George Hotel in Manzini, aimed at strengthening coordination across the country’s youth sector.

The workshop brought together young people, development partners and government officials to validate a draft framework developed to improve coordination and cooperation among stakeholders involved in youth development programmes in Eswatini.

Speaking during the event, EU Head of Cooperation Eva Maria Engdahl said, “The European Union understands that effective coordination is fundamental to the success of all our programmes, and in the world of increasingly complex challenges, coordination is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.”

The Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth, Bongani Nzima, reaffirmed government’s shared commitment with the European Union towards inclusive and youth driven development in the country.

The European Union has supported the process through technical assistance in the formulation of the coordination framework as well as the mapping of youth groups across Eswatini. According to the organisers, the process included consultations and the gathering of views from youth representatives in all four regions and constituencies to ensure the framework reflects the needs and realities of young people nationwide.
