Mbabane – The Ministry of Health in Eswatini and Botswana’s Boitekanelo College have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to strengthen the skills and capabilities of the health workforce in both countries. The renewed agreement was signed today.
The partnership, first established in 2014, has supported Eswatini’s health sector, particularly the Emergency Medical Services unit. Boitekanelo College’s Provost and Founder, Dr Tiroyaone Mampane, said the collaboration had contributed to the growth of the College, which now offers training across a variety of healthcare disciplines.
Principal Secretary Khanyakwezwe Mabuza described the partnership as having a positive impact on the country, noting some key outcomes:
- Capacity building in Emergency Medical Care and Occupational Health and Safety for over 50 Ministry of Health staff.
- Strengthened Emergency Preparedness and Response Capacity, with more than 400 frontline responders trained in Public Health Emergency Management, enhancing Eswatini’s ability to detect, prepare for, and respond to health emergencies.
