Manzini – U.S. incubation expert Erik Azulay spent a week in Eswatini this month, working with local entrepreneurs and incubation centres to strengthen practical business training.

Azulay, visiting as a Fulbright Specialist hosted by SEDCO, toured training and incubation providers, observing that many entrepreneurs focus on funding, but without preparation and training, investments are often wasted. He encouraged entrepreneurs to prioritise skills development and urged incubators and trainers to collaborate to address the full range of business needs.

During his visit, Azulay spoke at the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) conference, co-hosted by the U.S. Embassy and Taiwan, and led a workshop at American Corner Manzini for local incubation programmes. He also offered one-on-one coaching to startups and engaged with key stakeholders across the country.

Outside of the training sessions, Azulay attended the Buganu festival and explored various sites in Eswatini, experiencing the local culture and community.

“Everyone thinks their business needs funding, but that without training and preparation the funding is wasted,” Azulay said, stressing the importance of preparation for long-term entrepreneurial success.
