Rajgir, Bihar – India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said the global order is becoming more multi-polar as diverse societies and cultures increasingly make their voices heard. He made the remarks during the convocation ceremony of Nalanda University on Tuesday, which was also attended by President Droupadi Murmu.

“The world is becoming more multi-polar because there are many more societies and many more cultures that are making their voices heard. The Nalanda tradition can be a powerful influence in this democratisation of world order,” Jaishankar said, referring to the ancient university that historically drew scholars from across the globe.

He added that the name Nalanda evokes India’s intellectual heritage and cultural richness, and its revival signals the rise of India and Asia. The minister noted ongoing debates on the future of global growth, particularly around technology, but reminded graduates of the importance of the human perspective.

Jaishankar also encouraged international students to promote understanding of India in their home countries. “All of you, I know, have given your best here and, and I know equally well that you are taking a part of India back with you,” he said.
