Fire officers from the Eswatini National Fire and Rescue Emergency Service travelled to Mlawula Nature Reserve to engage young students from Rising Stars Generations Eswatini in a hands-on fire safety programme.
The visit saw officers lead students through discussions on the role fire plays in daily life, home safety practices, and the science behind how fires start. Officers told the students that managing fire safely requires a high level of discipline — a message directed squarely at the next generation of community leaders.
The session moved beyond classroom talk when students watched a live fire drill demonstration. Several students went further, putting on fire helmets and practising fire suppression techniques themselves, getting a first-hand feel for what it takes to work on the front lines.
ENFRES said the visit was driven by the belief that building a safer Eswatini starts with educating its youth. The service noted that some of the students who participated could one day wear the ENFRES uniform.
