Mbabane – Eswatini is three days away from a major national celebration marking 40 years of His Majesty King Mswati III on the Throne and his 58th birthday, with roadshows already setting the tone across the country.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, in partnership with Ezulwini Municipality, led a vibrant roadshow through Ezulwini, stretching from Mananga Centre Campus to The Gables and all the way to the Eswatini Water Services Corporation Headquarters, before concluding at Corner Plaza. The march brought together lively processions, cultural performances, drill displays, speeches and musical tributes in honour of the historic milestone.
Ministry of Home Affairs Communications Officer Mlandvo Dlamini represented the ministry at the event, while Ezulwini Mayor Refiloe Mamogobo and Dudu Tfumbatsa, representing Ezulwini Umphakatsi, also addressed the gathering.
The atmosphere was lifted by the Police Infantry Drill Squad from Matsapha Police Academy, cultural performances by Ngcoseni Central High School and St. Mary’s High School, drum majorettes from St. Mary’s High School in Lobamba, the Correctional Services Band, and a musical tribute by Gcayi Umkhaphelwano Ndlangamandla together with Siphepho, Sihle Konde, Sizwe and eMaphimbo eNdzabuko. MC Sandile Dlamini, popularly known as Sweet Banana, kept the crowd energised throughout.
On transport arrangements, Raymond Masilela from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport confirmed that buses will be provided for emaSwati attending the celebrations. He urged the public to be punctual, as buses will begin picking people up from as early as 6am and will only make one trip. Those who miss the buses will need to find alternative transport.
Meanwhile, Dr Lungile Dlamini, Chief Executive Officer of the Municipal Council of Manzini, added her voice to the national celebration, reflecting on four decades of progress in the city. She pointed to Manzini’s transformation from a modest town into a vibrant economic, cultural and social hub, with significant population growth, expanded city boundaries, improved infrastructure, enhanced healthcare services and upgraded communities as markers of the progress achieved under His Majesty’s reign.
