Beijing, China – Mozambique President Daniel Chapo was received by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, as part of a state visit that signals a deepening of ties between the two countries.
The two leaders posed for photographs before Chapo was accorded full state honours and reviewed the guard of honour.

Before meeting President Xi, Chapo held talks with the President of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, Zhao Leji, during which China conveyed its intention to raise strategic cooperation with Mozambique to the highest level, opening what Beijing described as a new chapter in relations with concrete results across various areas of joint progress.
Chapo was accompanied at the meeting with Zhao Leji by a delegation of Members of Parliament drawn from all four parliamentary benches, namely Frelimo, Podemos, Renamo and the Mozambican Democratic Movement, in line with Mozambican legislative rules requiring such participation during state visits.
