The Eswatini Environment Authority and Standard Bank Eswatini joined forces to mark Earth Day at Nhlanhleni Primary School in the Ntfonjeni area of the Hhohho region, using the occasion to launch a new national environmental initiative.
The event saw the official unveiling of the Blue Roots Eswatini initiative, a programme built around the theme “Growing a Greener Future, One Tree at a Time,” designed to rehabilitate ecosystems and foster a culture of environmental responsibility across communities in the Kingdom.
Standard Bank Eswatini has committed to planting one million trees across Africa as part of the programme, positioning Eswatini within a broader continental response to climate change and sustainable development.
The initiative goes beyond tree planting, aiming to empower schools, inspire young environmental stewards and integrate practical conservation into everyday life. The Eswatini Environment Authority commended the bank for its continued investment in programmes that combine education with hands-on environmental action, including financial support to schools to ensure that learning and practical activities remain meaningful and focused.
The launch attracted participation from the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, the Ministry of Education and UNESCO Eswatini.
