Boko returns home after regional state visits

Gaborone – Botswana President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has returned home after completing a state visit to Zimbabwe, where he co-chaired the 5th Session of the Botswana-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission (BNC) with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The two leaders signed eight Memorandums of Understanding and two Memorandums of Agreement covering a wide range of areas, including defence cooperation and training exchange programmes, police cooperation in combating livestock theft and other cross-border crimes, immigration cooperation, prison and correctional services, and the transfer of sentenced persons.

The agreements also covered the coordination of aeronautical search and rescue services, cooperation in the investigation of civil aircraft accidents and serious incidents, promotion of cooperatives and the development of micro, small and medium enterprises, economic trade and investment promotion, as well as collaboration on the Museum of African Liberation.

The BNC is regarded as the highest platform for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Botswana and Zimbabwe, with a particular focus on trade, investment, security and regional development.

President Boko also attended the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair during his time in the country before travelling to the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Here in Eswatini, President Boko was among the dignitaries who attended celebrations marking 40 years of His Majesty King Mswati III’s uninterrupted reign, as well as the King’s 58th birthday. King Mswati III ascended to the throne at the age of 18.
