Manzini – An 82-year-old man from the Mbekelweni area is under police investigation after allegedly defrauding a 53-year-old man from KaKhoza of E240,000 in a bus permit scam.
According to the Royal Eswatini Police Service, the complainant reported that during January 2026 he paid the elderly man E240,000 after being promised a bus permit for the Mbabane to Manzini route.
The suspect was a holder of the bus permit for that route and was approached about selling it to the complainant, to which he agreed. He allegedly went ahead and received the E240,000 payment despite knowing that the permit had already been sold to another person. 
Manzini police are currently collecting evidence as the investigation continues, and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
