Mbabane – Commerce, Industry and Trade Minister Manqoba Khumalo visited the Made in Eswatini Consumer Fair in Mbabane, touring stalls, buying local products and walking away with an unexpected prize, a trip to Zanzibar.
The fair, held along Dr Sishayi Road in Mbabane, is a collaboration between Made in Eswatini, A Peculiar People, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade and the Mbabane Municipality, aimed at promoting and supporting local businesses.
During his visit, Khumalo toured a variety of stalls showcasing the innovation and creativity of emaSwati entrepreneurs. Among those he visited were Touch of Soul, where he received a personalised t-shirt, as well as Enactus, ESWASA, LEAP Taxi, BUFE, Funding Eswatini Youth Businesses, Old Mutual, Parmalat and Sine Leather & Luna.
The minister also won a trip to Zanzibar at the LEAP Taxi stall, adding a light-hearted moment to his tour of the bustling fair.
Khumalo went further than just browsing, purchasing products from several exhibitors to demonstrate the government’s commitment to supporting local enterprise and backing micro, small and medium enterprises as key drivers of economic growth and job creation.
