MBABANE | The Government of Eswatini has announced the death of Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe, Minister of Home Affairs, following a short illness while receiving medical care in the Kingdom.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini announced her passing in a government statement issued on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The Prime Minister extended condolences on behalf of His Majesty’s Government to His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, members of the Royal Family, Princess Lindiwe’s family and relatives, colleagues and all those who knew and worked alongside her. 
The statement said Princess Lindiwe served the Crown and the Kingdom with dignity, devotion and a strong sense of duty.
She was appointed Minister of Home Affairs in 2018 and remained in the position until her death. During her tenure, the government said she carried out the responsibilities of her office with distinction, integrity and compassion, while maintaining a commitment to the welfare of the people of Eswatini.
Beyond her government responsibilities, Princess Lindiwe was also described as a woman of deep Christian faith and spiritual conviction.
She was affectionately known as Umkhokheli and provided spiritual leadership, guidance and encouragement to many people through her faith and service.
The government said her kindness, humility and strength of character had touched the lives of those around her.
“The Kingdom has lost a person of humility and dignity, the Cabinet a valued and respected colleague, the Church a spiritual leader, and the Nation a devoted and faithful servant,” the statement said.
The government said Princess Lindiwe’s contribution to the life of the Kingdom would be remembered with gratitude and that her memory would remain cherished by those who knew her.
Further information on her funeral and related arrangements will be communicated in due course.
The government concluded by praying that her soul would rest in eternal peace.
