ACCA visits Eswatini to boost accounting profession

Kwaluseni – The Eswatini Institute of Accountants hosted a full day of engagements with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants on Monday, bringing together students, professionals and key stakeholders to talk about the future of the accounting profession in the Kingdom.

The visit by ACCA to Eswatini was organised in collaboration with ESIA and covered three separate sessions, each targeting a different segment of the profession.

The day opened with a strategic meeting between ACCA and the University of Eswatini, where the two sides discussed ways to strengthen their working relationship and improve access to physical classes and academic support for emaSwati students pursuing ACCA qualifications.

A session with accounting students followed, giving aspiring finance and accounting professionals a direct line to ACCA to ask questions, gain industry insights and learn about opportunities available within the global profession.

The day closed with a stakeholder engagement session hosted jointly by ACCA and ESIA, which brought together ESIA members, current ACCA candidates, former students, aspiring professionals and other key figures in the sector. The session opened the floor for honest conversation about experiences, challenges, areas for improvement and what lies ahead for accounting in Eswatini.

ESIA thanked ACCA, UNESWA, students, members and all stakeholders who took part in the day’s engagements.
