Mbabane – A group of Consumer Studies learners from Enjabulweni School visited the National Emergency Response Council on HIV and AIDS on Thursday for a capacitation session on HIV matters, as the organisation continues its push to equip young Emaswati with accurate information about the epidemic.

The students, described as a generation born at a time when Eswatini was already reaping the rewards of its fight against HIV and AIDS, were taken through the country’s journey from the height of the crisis to the progress made today, many of them having never witnessed the lived realities of people suffering from AIDS or experienced the nation’s most difficult period of the epidemic.

NERCHA National Executive Director Dr. Nondumiso Ncube urged the learners to value and preserve their youth, telling them they are the best leaders of tomorrow. Her message centred on abstinence as the right path for young people, urging them to stay focused, driven and protective of their futures.

Director for HIV Response and Coordination Dr. Bongani Masango led an interactive session aimed at making public health strategies clear and engaging for the students, keeping energy levels high throughout the visit.

NERCHA said investing in schools and watching young citizens become health champions is what drives the organisation’s outreach work.
