A young entrepreneur from Kauxwi in Botswana’s Okavango District is making her mark across Southern Africa through sustainable agriculture, with her work earning international recognition from the United States, the United Nations, and regional bodies.

Kemo Begani, founder of Spring Blossom Pty Ltd, was spotlighted this week by Botswana’s Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs in its Entrepreneurs Monday feature, a regular series celebrating homegrown business talent.

Begani has built her enterprise around climate-smart farming while channelling her work toward empowering youth, women, and rural communities across the region.

Her achievements include winning the 2025 Women in Tech Innovation Award and completing the Ignite: African Women in Agribusiness Fellowship. She was selected by SADC for Food Handling and Food Safety training in Mozambique and was part of a Government of Botswana benchmarking mission to Bangladesh. She also received a solar system from the American Embassy to support green farming practices and benefited from the Chemachema Scheme.

Begani attended the BIASHARA AFRIKA trade fair organised by the African Continental Free Trade Framework in Lomé, Togo, where she exhibited her dried products with sponsorship from UNDP Botswana. She has also received a certificate of attendance in Climate Smart Agriculture through a joint MYGA and UN Women programme and completed training through EnterprenHER, formerly known as AWOME.

She is a member of the Botswana Horticulture Council, the Women Rural Assembly Zimbabwe, and Mulimi Zambia.

Her most recent venture is a dried vegetable product line, which was showcased at a UN Women South-South Exhibition.

Beyond her business interests, Begani serves as Chairperson of Phomolong OVC, an organisation supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Shakawe, and regularly donates fresh produce to local schools.
