Geneva – Eswatini’s Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi held a bilateral meeting with his Taiwanese counterpart on the sidelines of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, with the two sides working towards a memorandum of understanding on labour cooperation.
The meeting focused on developing an MOU that will guide collaboration between the two countries across a wide range of labour and social security areas.
The proposed areas of cooperation include employment promotion and labour market development, skills development and vocational training, labour administration and inspection, occupational safety and health, social security and social protection, labour migration, youth employment and entrepreneurship, women’s economic empowerment, digital transformation of labour services, and research and policy development.
The partnership is aimed at building a modern, inclusive and resilient labour market in Eswatini while creating opportunities for workers, employers and young people. Through the exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices, the two ministries aim to advance decent work, strengthen social protection systems and prepare their workforces for the future of work.
