Manzini – Eswatini joined the rest of the world on Friday in marking World Accreditation Day, with the Municipal Council of Manzini Laboratory receiving an accreditation certificate during a commemorative event held to observe the occasion.
The day was celebrated under the theme “Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation.”
Under Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Phesheya Dube, delivered remarks at the event, speaking to the role accreditation plays in promoting quality, safety, trade, innovation and public confidence across the country.
The handover of the certificate to the Manzini Municipal Laboratory was the centrepiece of the commemoration, marking what officials described as a significant milestone for both the municipality and the nation.
Dube said accreditation goes beyond being a technical process, describing it as a strategic tool for national development that supports innovation through reliable testing and certification, builds trust among consumers, businesses and government, and promotes sustainability through responsible practices and continuous improvement.
The Ministry said accreditation in Eswatini strengthens competitiveness, facilitates trade, protects consumers and improves service delivery, and reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the country’s national quality infrastructure to support economic growth, public confidence and sustainable development.
