Pretoria – Pretoria is among the first South African cities to issue an advisory to motorists of planned road closures as the planned march on June 30 nears.

The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) said roads leading to the Church Square in Pretoria Central will be closed and traffic disruptions will be common in the streets, following March and March’s approval to protest against undocumented immigrants in South Africa on Tuesday.

“Take note that there will be a march on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, by March and March.” Purpose: They will be marching against undocumented foreign nationals,” the advisor partly reads.

The demonstration will begin at 1000hrs from Church Square and end about 1500hrs at the Sunnyside Police Station.

Police have disarmed private vehicles at the meeting point, allowing only buses to transport and drop off protesters at the corner of WF Nkomo and Bosman streets at the Church Square entrance. They will then proceed to the Old Putco Depot in Marabastad for parking.

Private cars will be redirected to an open parking area at the corner of Kgosi Mampuru and Madiba streets. Delays for motorists are anticipated, but they have been advised to use alternative routes, including Nana Sita Street, Visagie Street, Justice Mahomed Street, Jeff Masemola Street, Bosman Street, Johannes Ramokhoase Street, Struben Street, Bloed Street, Kgosi Mampuru Street and Eskia Mphahlele Drive.

Marchers will be able to travel from Church Square to Francis Baard Street via Paul Kruger Street. They will then be directed to take Lillian Ngoyi Street, Madiba Street, Nelson Mandela Drive, Kotze Street, Van Boeschoten Avenue, Robert Sobukwe Street, and Leyds Street to Sunnyside Police Station.

The TMPD and South African Police Service (SAPS) will be deployed to ensure public safety and control traffic.
