Ezulwini – Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, officially launched the FNB Eswatini Challenge this morning, with the tournament’s main event set to take place next month.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister commended FNB Eswatini for its consistent and sustained commitment to the sporting activity.
He revealed that this year’s tournament carries a boosted total sponsorship package of E2.5 million, positioning it among the biggest single sports sponsorships in the country.
“I was therefore excited to learn that this year’s Challenge comes with an increased total sponsorship package of E2.5 million, making it one of the largest single-sports sponsorships in Eswatini. I have also learnt with delight that this year’s Challenge will include a Junior Golf Day aimed at nurturing the next generation of emaSwati golfers,” Nzima said.
The Minister also noted that the bank has reserved E60 000 to reward the three best placed local finishers, mirroring an arrangement made during last year’s edition, while expressing hope that a liSwati golfer would eventually claim the overall title.
“It is also pleasing to know that the bank, as it did last year, has set aside E60 000 strictly to reward the three best placed emaSwati finishers. CEO, however, my eyes are on the big prize. I do hope that, soon, a liSwati golfer will go all the way to lift the FNB Eswatini Challenge crown,” he said.
