Matsapha – The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology has handed over a Mobile Phone Repair Laboratory to His Majesty’s Correctional Services at Vulamasango School.
The facility was handed over on behalf of the Minister of Information, Communications and Technology, Senator Savannah Maziya, who was represented by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of ICT, Prince Mshishimba. He officially handed over the laboratory to the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, who was represented by the Under-Secretary.
The laboratory was sponsored by the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) through the Universal Access and Service Fund (UASF). It will equip learners with practical mobile phone repair, digital literacy and entrepreneurship skills to promote self-reliance and support Eswatini’s digital economy. 
As part of the initiative, four His Majesty’s Correctional Services officers were trained as mobile phone repair instructors to ensure the sustainability of the programme. A further 16 learners received certificates and start-up toolkits.
The Minister said the initiative reflects Government’s commitment to ensuring that digital transformation creates opportunities for all.
“Our greatest investment is not in computers or equipment, but in people. When we invest in people’s potential, we build a more inclusive and prosperous digital future for the Kingdom of Eswatini.”
