Mbabane – Mashumi Shongwe, a board member of the Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration Commission (CMAC), has resigned from his assigned role, according to a statement from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
Shongwe, who faces a murder trial for his wife,Tigezile Magongo, tendered his resignation, and the minister of labour and social security, Phila Buthelezi, who appointed him on October 9 last year, accepted it on Wednesday.
There are no reasons publicised by Shongwe or the ministry, but the ministry said further communication will be provided with regard to another board appointment. Recently, allegations implicating Shongwe in a drafting of a hit list involving the name of a High Court judge emerged, first reported by Swaziland News, and a posted voice clip alleged to be him and a traditional healer in conversation regarding the matter has circulated online. 
The ministry’s principal secretary, Makhosini Mndawe, only advised the public that the Federation of Eswatini Trade Unions (FESWATU), which nominated Shongwe to the board seat, is yet to forward the name of his replacement.
“The Ministry of Labour and Social Security wishes to express its appreciation to Mr Shongwe for his service and contribution to the work of CMAC during his tenure and wishes him well in his professional responsibilities,” Mndawe’s statement said.
