Eswatini’s second iHub is now open, with the Macetjeni iHub officially launched at the SEDCO Estate in Gilgal Inkhundla in the Lubombo Region, bringing digital skills training and technology access to one of the Kingdom’s rural communities.
The launch was held on Thursday and was organised by SEDCO together with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of ICT, ESCCOM and UNDP Eswatini. The Macetjeni iHub follows the earlier launch of the Piggs Peak iHub, making it the second such facility in the Kingdom.
The hub is designed to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban communities, with a focus on youth, women, persons living with disabilities and micro, small and medium enterprises. 
During a two-month trial period ahead of the official launch, over 100 participants, mostly young people, received training in computer literacy, Microsoft Office, artificial intelligence, CV writing and application letters.
The facility is operated by young tech entrepreneur Siphiwo Lushaba of Togo Digital, who was selected through a competitive process to run the hub.
Funding for the iHub came through ESCCOM’s Universal Access and Service Fund, with additional support from UNDP Eswatini and the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
