Mahindra has unveiled its long awaited lifestyle pickup, which will compete with vehicles such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D Max.
The pickup was revealed in Mumbai on Friday, 14 August 2026, ahead of Mahindra’s Independence Day celebrations. It was first introduced as the Global Pik Up Concept during the company’s Independence Day event in Cape Town in 2023.
In India, the production model will be sold as the Scorpio Lifestyler, while international markets, including South Africa, are expected to receive it under the Lifestyler name. Mahindra plans to launch the pickup in India by April 2027, with prices starting below Rs 1.979 million before taxes and other charges. 
The company is targeting the growing lifestyle pickup market, which combines everyday work capability with recreational use. The Lifestyler is expected to compete with established models such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D Max in the midsize pickup segment.
Mahindra has retained most of the styling seen on the Global Pik Up Concept. The main changes include redesigned headlights and new alloy wheel designs.
The vehicle has been presented as a double cab, although Mahindra has not confirmed whether single cab or extended cab versions will be produced.
The manufacturer describes the pickup as both capable on difficult terrain and refined enough for lifestyle use. It is built on a new ladder frame chassis, which appears to be separate from the platform used by the recently updated Scorpio N.
Mahindra says the vehicle is intended to combine load carrying with leisure activities, describing its approach as turning “payload in playload”.
Inside, the Lifestyler will feature a model specific steering wheel, a portrait style infotainment screen and a separate digital instrument cluster.
The cabin will have a dashboard design different from the Scorpio N. Mahindra has retained physical controls for key functions, including switches on the steering wheel, climate controls below the infotainment screen and controls on the centre console.
The vehicles displayed during the unveiling were locked, limiting the amount of additional information available about the interior.
Mahindra has not released complete technical specifications, but the pickup is expected to use the Scorpio N’s 2.0 litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine and 2.2 litre mHawk turbodiesel engine.
The expected transmission options are a six speed manual and a six speed automatic gearbox. Buyers are also likely to have a choice between rear wheel drive and four wheel drive, with the four wheel drive system using a part time arrangement similar to that found in the Scorpio N.
South Africa has been confirmed as one of the markets for the new pickup, with its arrival tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Mahindra has not yet confirmed whether the vehicle will be assembled alongside the existing Pik Up at the company’s plant in Durban.
The company is also expected to provide further details about the South African name, pricing, specifications and production plans closer to the local launch.
