Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – His Majesty King Mswati III has urged emaSwati students studying in Malaysia to use their academic exposure to gain advanced skills that can contribute to Eswatini’s development.
The King made the call during a sponsored dinner in Malaysia, where he met 16 emaSwati students pursuing their studies in the South East Asian country.
He also gave each student US$1,000, equivalent to approximately E16,000. 
The meeting formed part of the King’s official visit to Malaysia, a country with which Eswatini has maintained long standing diplomatic and bilateral relations.
King Mswati said cooperation between the two countries had continued to grow, particularly in higher education and technology.
He observed that Malaysia had made significant technological progress since his previous visit to the country about 10 years ago.
The King encouraged the students to take advantage of the country’s advanced environment and gain expertise that could be applied in Eswatini after completing their studies.
“You are aware that Eswatini desires to become a first-world country. This requires highly skilled emaSwati to ensure this vision becomes a reality. You should make full use of this exposure to translate this expertise back home, contribute to the development of the country, and improve the lives of your fellow citizens,” said the King.
King Mswati praised the students for maintaining discipline and representing Eswatini positively while abroad.
He reminded them that they were ambassadors of the Kingdom and should conduct themselves in a manner that reflected the country’s values.
The King also spoke about the role of the Eswatini High Commission in Malaysia, saying it had been established to protect the welfare of emaSwati citizens and strengthen relations between the two countries.
He expressed satisfaction with reports that the students were receiving proper support and were well looked after during their stay in Malaysia.
