MBABANE – A high level regional delegation visited key health and community sites in Eswatini from August 24 to 25 as part of the 2026 Regional Advisory Group meeting for the Southern African Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and HIV Programme.
The visit, coordinated through UNFPA Eswatini, brought together officials from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Africa, Maputo, Angola and Zimbabwe, as well as representatives of UNDP Eswatini, the International Organization for Migration, UNFPA, development partners and the Ministry of Health.
The two day programme focused on initiatives supporting key populations, migrants, adolescents and young people, particularly those living with HIV. 
Delegates began their programme at the Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini, where UNDP, Parents United and Care for All Children held discussions on Dutch supported programmes for key populations. These included WeBelongAfrica and the Inclusive Governance Initiative.
The delegation later travelled to Game 5 in Big Bend to assess the IOM and Save the Children Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV Knows No Borders project. The programme seeks to improve access to sexual and reproductive health and HIV services for migrants and other mobile populations.
On Tuesday, the group visited Siphofaneni Clinic, where they met READY+ peer educators and healthcare workers assisting adolescents and young people living with HIV.
Ministry of Health representatives also attended the clinic engagement and delivered remarks on behalf of the Principal Secretary, committing the ministry to continued partnerships aimed at improving health outcomes for adolescents and young people.
The field visit ended at the Umhlanga Reed Dance at Ludzidzini Royal Residence, where UNFPA’s Safeguard Young People programme, working through Khulisa Umtfwana, conducted social and behaviour change activities.
