Manzini – The Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE), in partnership with the Central Statistical Office (CSO), FinMark Trust and the Eswatini Economic Policy Analysis and Research Centre (ESEPARC), will begin the FinScope Eswatini 2026 Consumer Survey on 8 September 2026.

Preparations for the nationwide survey are already underway, with enumerators having recently completed their training ahead of their deployment across all four regions of the country.

The enumerators will collect information on the financial experiences and needs of emaSwati as part of the survey, and will be identifiable by their official regalia while conducting fieldwork.

Speaking during the enumerator training, CBE Specialist for Financial Inclusion Tanele Ndlangamandla said the information gathered would play a role in shaping financial sector policies and services.

“The findings of the survey are expected to guide policy, strengthen consumer protection, and inspire innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of citizens,” said Ndlangamandla.

The 2026 Consumer Survey follows the previous FinScope study conducted in Eswatini in 2018. The latest exercise is intended to provide updated information on how emaSwati access and use financial services and how their financial circumstances have changed over the years.

Among its objectives is to track developments and interventions that have taken place since the 2018 survey, while assessing the current level of access to financial services, how such services are being used and their quality.

The survey will also examine emerging areas within Eswatini’s financial sector, including digital financial inclusion, financial health, women’s economic empowerment and fraud.
