Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025 will begin on Monday, 12 May, with the return of BONDay — Business Opportunity Networking Day — a dedicated platform aimed at unlocking tourism growth through collaboration, innovation, and dialogue. The one-day event will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre.
Organised by South African Tourism, BONDay brings together tourism leaders, entrepreneurs, SMMEs, and stakeholders from across the continent. It sets the stage for the week-long trade show by offering a series of sessions focused on regional cooperation, authentic travel experiences, and technology-driven innovation in the tourism industry.
Darryl Erasmus, Chief Operations Officer at South African Tourism, said the gathering is where the continent’s tourism thinkers meet doers to shape the sector’s future. With Africa’s tourism still recovering from the pandemic, BONDay aims to equip participants with tools to remain competitive while promoting African excellence and sustainable growth.
This year’s programme will run from 9:00 to 17:00 and includes three simultaneous streams:
– Maji / Water, focusing on collective vision and localisation strategies;
– Moto / Fire, exploring immersive travel and hidden destinations;
– Ardhi / Earth, centred on technology and sustainable tourism innovation.
A plenary session titled Africa’s Voice at G20 will also take place, drawing attention to the continent’s role in global tourism discussions.
BONDay will close with the Tourism Communicators Forum, which is scheduled for the afternoon and open by invitation only.
