South Africa’s Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile is expected to deliver the official opening address at Africa’s Travel Indaba on Tuesday, 13 May 2025, at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

The three-day event, running from 13 to 15 May, is themed “Unlimited Africa” and aims to celebrate Africa’s tourism potential while encouraging regional collaboration across borders.

Tourism stakeholders from across the continent will gather to explore Southern Africa’s premier tourism offerings. The Indaba will feature a packed agenda that includes exhibitions, workshops, and high-level presentations by industry leaders and experts.

South Africa’s government continues to support the Indaba as a platform to attract global tourism investors and professionals. The sector currently contributes 8.8% to the national GDP and supports 1.68 million jobs, with ambitions to raise employment in the industry to 2.2 million by 2030.

This year’s Indaba aligns with South Africa’s role as host of the G20 summit, offering an added opportunity to promote African destinations and drive sustainable tourism initiatives across the continent.
