The Mbabane Alliance Church has donated food parcels valued at E16,000 to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Thulisile Dladla.
The donation was officially handed over on Thursday during a ceremony held in the boardroom of the DPM’s Office in Mbabane.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the consignment includes rice, mealie meal, sugar, vegetable oil, dry beans, Koo beans, and salt. The items will be distributed to vulnerable people in both rural and urban communities. 
Reverend Johannes Mazibuko of the Mbabane Alliance Church said the church took the initiative to assist government in its efforts to care for the less fortunate.
Receiving the donation, Dladla said her office regularly receives requests from people in need of food and other basic essentials. She said the food parcels would go a long way in addressing the growing demand for support from struggling households.
She also encouraged Emaswati to consider growing indigenous vegetables at home, a practice being promoted by the Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative (TAVI), to help improve diets and prevent nutrition-related illnesses.
